Yongjie Yon is a PhD student in Gerontology at the University of Southern California, United States. Yongjie’s academic, professional and personal outlook revolves around a pivotal theme that the most fundamental right of seniors is the right to feel safe and free from potential abuse. Yongjie is recipient of the Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarships and the Doctoral Fellowship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
Yongjie is an expert on elder abuse research and has published in leading academic journals on research relating to ageism, elder abuse, intergenerational relations, immigrant seniors and housing and health disparities. His work in academia and community engagements has been recognized in the national and international communities.
