From April 10 to 13, Alexandre Kalache participated in the Transnational Law Summit, an international conference held at King’s College London. The main focus of the conference was on inequalities and the multiple consequences for health, well-being, social harmony and the status of women and other disadvantaged groups.
Alexandre Kalache spoke about the importance of developing frameworks that guarantee the opportunities for active ageing across the life course. In particular, the session emphasized the need for a legal mechanism to guarantee older persons’ rights. At the moment, older people are still the only group considered as vulnerable that does not have a specific convention to protect their rights.
